Musical composition in small advertising forms: the soundtrack and jingle. Synchronization with the image; mickeymousing in advertising. The creative process: the briefing given as a problem and composition as a solution. Composition work in different applied musical genres: musical soundtrack, jingle, spot soundtrack (radio). Analysis of acclaimed examples.

Course: Sound in Brazilian Cinema

Film music and its relationships with other sound elements (voices, noises, silences) and with images. Notes on a history of technology, intermediality, entanglements with the music industry, moments of technological change, techniques, and their narrative impacts on films and their reception.

Processes behind the making of the documentary "UNVEILING THE EXPANDED GUITAR," written and interpreted by Mario da Silva, directed by Anaí Bagnolin. The lecture will discuss how expanded guitar techniques can be a useful aesthetic tool for creating soundtracks.

Lucas Bonetti and composers Claudia Usai, Tim Rescala, and Alex Pfeiffer compose this discussion about the metanarratives present in the book, which form an important compendium on the production of soundtracks and music scores in Brazil today, as well as looking back to better understand the main changes that have occurred over the past decades.

Matthijs Kieboom is one of the most sought-after and well-established composers in the Netherlands. Despite his relatively young age, he has been a full-time composer for over a decade and recently became the head of the film music department at one of the leading conservatories in the Netherlands. Harry Gregson-Williams (London, December 13, 1961) is a British composer, conductor, orchestrator, and music producer. He has composed music for video games, television, and films, including Spy Game, The Chronicles of Narnia, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Antz, Chicken Run, the Shrek franchise, Arthur Christmas, Early Man, and Catch-22. Plinio Profeta is a musician, film score composer, and music producer. He has won the Best Original Soundtrack award from the Brazilian Academy of Cinema twice, for "O Palhaço" in 2011 and "O Filme da Minha Vida" in 2018. Early in his career, Profeta won a Latin Grammy for producing Lenine's album "Falange Canibal."
